The legal safety test.
A DVSA-mandated annual inspection of brakes, lights, tyres, steering, emissions and bodywork. It tells you whether your vehicle is legal to drive on the day. It does not change a single consumable.
The maintenance schedule.
A manufacturer-defined procedure that replaces oils, filters and wear items, inspects mechanical condition, and protects warranty, reliability and residual value.

Is an MOT the same as a service?+
No. An MOT is a legal annual safety and emissions test set by the DVSA. A service is a manufacturer-scheduled maintenance procedure to keep your vehicle running reliably. The MOT confirms your car is roadworthy on the day of test; a service replaces consumables and identifies wear before it becomes failure.
Can I just book an MOT and skip the service?+
Legally yes, but skipping servicing voids manufacturer warranties and accelerates wear on the engine, brakes and suspension. An MOT does not check oil quality, brake fluid, cambelt condition or many other items a service covers.
Should I book them on the same day?+
